What are they?

Premium IOLs are a type of intraocular lens (IOL) that offers additional benefits over traditional IOLs. These benefits can include:

  • Improved vision: Premium IOLs can improve vision in a variety of ways, including reducing glare and halos, and improving contrast sensitivity.

  • Extended range of vision: Some premium IOLs can provide extended range of vision, which means that you may be able to see better at both near and far distances without having to wear glasses or contact lenses.

  • Monovision: Monovision is a technique that uses two different IOLs in each eye to create clear vision at both near and far distances. This can be a good option for people who want to be able to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses, but who also want to be able to read without having to take their glasses off.

  • Your health: You should be in good general health and have no major eye problems, such as glaucoma or macular degeneration.

  • Your lifestyle: If you are active and enjoy sports or other activities that require good vision, premium IOLs may be a good option for you.

What are the risks of premium IOLs?

As with any surgery, there are some risks associated with premium IOLs. These risks can include:

  • Infection: There is a small risk of infection after any surgery, including cataract surgery.

  • Bleeding: There is a small risk of bleeding after any surgery, including cataract surgery.

  • Complications from anesthesia: There is a small risk of complications from anesthesia, such as an allergic reaction or a reaction to a medication.

  • Complications from the surgery itself: There is a small risk of complications from the surgery itself, such as a detached retina or a corneal abrasion.
